Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
At Third Eye Threads, we love to upcycle material that was originally headed to a land fill. We do this by partnering with factories that can use technology and hard work to make amazingly soft fabric from recyled materials.
Since 2008 our packages have shipped in recycled boxes or a shipping envelope
incorporating recycled plastic. Thank you Starbucks and Subway for all the boxes!
Over the years we have recycled hundreds, if not thousands, of boxes. Roughly 40% of trash
created everyday in the United States is packaging. At Third Eye Threads we
recycle everything that we can. Less than 2% of the total waste stream in the United States is recycled.
Our printing process is called sublimation. We use heat to bind eco-friendly ink
to polyester fiber using a digital printing process. Whenever possible we use recycled polyester from water bottles. We take this
trash and turn it into fabulous fibers. We also use recycled cotton in some of
our garments. Some of our garments have no added dye.
Of the garbage Americans throw out, half could be recycled, which is enough to
fill a football stadium from top to bottom everyday.
One of the #1 ways you can reduce waste and your carbon footprint is to hang
dry your clothes. They will last longer, pill less, and you will be lowering your
carbon foot print. (Please go to our website for an easy drying rack solution.)
You will be reducing, reusing, and recycling all at once!
What is a Triple R?
• Before buying something new, look on Craigslist for the same item slightly used.
You save money and you reduce, reuse, and recycle.
• Try giving an item away for free on Craigslist in the free stuff section.
• Start composting. This is an awesome Triple R and it's great for your garden. (All you need to do is plant the seeds.)
Please share your Three R ideas on our Facebook page!
